Peter Levy.
Managing Director
Peter is a chartered insurance professional who has been part of Jamaica’s general insurance industry for over 40 years, and has served as the Chairman of the Board of EduFocal Limited since 2012.
In 2013, Peter was appointed Vice-President of the Insurance Association of Jamaica (IAJ), and chaired the Association’s General Insurance Committee. From 2018-2020 he was the President of IAJ and continues to serve on their Board of Directors.
A beloved leader, Peter is the Managing Director of Jamaica’s #1 General Insurance Company, the British Caribbean Insurance Company (BCIC). He combines strong technical skills with the goal of always delivering outstanding value for BCIC’s customers. He has been deeply involved in the creation of many innovative and customer-centric products such as Diamond Max for drivers over 55 years old, and the Minimax collision benefit for third party policies. His transformational management style has significantly contributed to the growth and empowerment of his team, and has led to BCIC being the most profitable general insurance company in Jamaica in 2017 and 2019.
Under his leadership. BCIC has sustained enviable levels of growth in both revenue and profit, and has continued to innovate. BCIC refunded 50 million dollars to customers when the pandemic limited their driving, the only company in its markets to do so. In 2022, BCIC was assigned a Financial Strength Rating of B++ (Good) by international credit rating agency AM Best.
Peter is the leader of BCIC’s digital transformation initiatives, as he continues to make BCIC a disruptive industry leader that is agile and adaptable.
Michelle’s career in insurance started at BCIC in 1991, and can be divided in two stints. In 2009, Michelle rejoined BCIC as a Business Development Officer, and since then has been promoted eight times and has led the way in BCIC becoming one of the most profitable general insurers in Jamaica. She also acquired international experience in the United Kingdom from some of the premier players in the space such as AIG and Aviva
She is a versatile general insurance professional with expertise in both the technical underwriting and sales generation aspects of insurance. Her ability to blend the two, has helped BCIC’s clients across varying industries, including banking and finance, construction, engineering, transportation, and hospitality achieve outstanding results.
After serving as Chief Operating Officer, Michelle has now stepped into the role of Deputy Managing Director, she is responsible for driving digital transformation throughout the organization. Michelle oversees BCIC’s profitable growth, technical underwriting, reinsurance, sales and distribution for Jamaica, operations in Barbados, and now the Turks & Caicos Islands. She also manages BCIC’s direct and intermediary business, the business processing teams and the claims department.
Michelle is a natural born leader who is passionate about growth not only in herself but her team. Her focus is driven through maintaining customer loyalty and forging strong business relationships with partners from both local and international markets.
Among her many titles, graduate of the University of Central England, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with first class honors is among their number. She is a member of the Insurance Association of Jamaica’s (IAJ’s) Underwriting & Claims Subcommittee, and currently serves on the board of directors at CIPS. She is also a mother of two handsome boys.
Garth Rowe.
Garth A. Rowe is a highly accomplished financial executive with over three decades of experience in corporate finance and accounting. He is currently serving as the General Manager for Finance at BCIC, a position he has held since 1995. Mr. Rowe has also served as a Director at BCIC between 2004 and May 2010, and as Chief Accountant from 1990 to 1995.
Prior to joining BCIC, Mr. Rowe worked as a Senior Field Auditor at Deloitte & Touché, where he honed his expertise in financial auditing and accounting. He spent two and a half years at the firm before joining BCIC in 1990.
In addition to his executive roles at BCIC, Mr. Rowe is a highly respected member of the financial community. Since 2003, he has served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the ICD Group et al Pension Scheme, where he has played an instrumental role in managing the pension scheme’s investments and ensuring the financial security of its members.
Throughout his career, Mr. Rowe has demonstrated a keen understanding of financial strategy and an unwavering commitment to sound financial practices. He is a results-driven leader who has consistently delivered strong financial performance and created value for stakeholders. With his extensive experience and proven track record, Mr. Rowe is a valuable asset to any organization looking to achieve sustained financial success.
Maria is an Attorney-at-Law who has, for several years, been providing strategic legal advice to entities in the financial services industry. She has extensive experience in corporate and commercial law, civil litigation, conveyancing and corporate governance. Maria is also experienced in enterprise risk management.
A certified corporate secretary and a trained mediator, Maria is a graduate of the University of the West Indies where she obtained a Master of Science in Governance and a Bachelor of Laws. She also graduated from the Norman Manley Law School having obtained a Certificate of Legal Education.
At BCIC Maria is responsible for the development and execution of the company’s legal, compliance and enterprise risk management strategies.
Maria is a member of the Jamaican Bar Association and serves as an arbitrator with the Insurance Association of Jamaica.
Benjamin Pringle.
Benjamin joined BCIC as Head of IT Infrastructure & Implementation in 2013. He possesses an exceptional track record in the development and maintenance of business intelligence solutions, with over 10 years’ experience in the field of Information Technology. Since joining BCIC, Benjamin spearheaded the implementation of a private cloud infrastructure for both desktops and servers throughout the ICD Group.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Management Information Systems from the University of the West Indies and has a wealth of experience in Information Technology including network, database and systems management.
Benjamin is responsible for the provision of Information Technology services for BCIC’s branches in Jamaica, Barbados and the ICD Group.
Lori-Ann Glasgow.
Lori-Ann is a Marketing professional with over 20 years of experience in advertising and consumer marketing with a proven track record of strengthening global brands and accelerating revenue growth.
She has earned an MBA from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester and a bachelor of science degree from the University of the West Indies.
Lori-Ann also serves on the board of directors for Coldbush Organics, a farm-to-bar chocolate manufacturer, and RJR’s board for broadcasting.
She is responsible for the company’s marketing and branding strategy, customer experience, innovation and product development.
Joy is an exemplary HR Professional with over ten years’ of experience. She has been instrumental in helping BCIC’s executives connect with their employees, optimize employee productivity, enhance employee engagement, and build employee brand and strategic talents.
She started her career at BCIC as a typist, moved through the ranks to Assistant HR Manager in 2010 and currently holds the position of HR Manager.
Joy’s exceptional leadership, interpersonal and organizational communication skills, and her ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously has significantly assisted the HR team in achieving BCIC’s strategic and operational goals.
A graduate of The University of Manchester with a MBA in Finance and a BSc. in Business Administration from Northern Caribbean University, Joy is passionate about helping team members realize their full potential.
Peta-Gay Evans Campbell.
Peta-Gay has over 19 years’ progressive experience in the general insurance industry in the areas of claims management, underwriting management, customer experience management and team leadership.
Peta-Gay acknowledges that she takes a result-oriented approach to her job and is passionate about making a difference and believes that as industry leaders we must start innovating and simplifying our processes, be brave to challenge the status quo; even as we empower, educate and engage our internal as well as our external customers.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws, LL.B (Hons) degree from the University of London, Diploma in Insurance from the College of Insurance and Professional Studies and a Certificate in Supervisory Management from the UWI School of Continuing Studies.
Ethana has over 25 years’ experience in the accounting field where she gained experience in financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, forecasting, and budgeting and internal control.
She has been employed to a subsidiary of the ICD Group for over 15 years, eight of which were spent spearheading the accounting team.
Her role at BCIC includes managing and overseeing the daily operations of the finance department. Monitoring and analyzing accounting data and producing financial reports.
Ethana is a Chartered Accountant with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and holds an MBA from the University of London in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. She is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ).
Shayon Prehay – Thompson .
Shayon Prehay-Thompson is an experienced underwriter, innovator and leader. Shayon joined BCIC on February 1, 2004 as a Clerical Assistant in the Underwriting Unit and has held several other positions before being promoted in January 2019 to Head of Underwriting & Reinsurance.
Shayon is a trained teacher, she completed her studies at The Mico University College in 2011; she utilizes these skills to train new and existing employees. In 2021, Shayon boosted her academic achievements by earning the designation “AU” from The American Institutes where she studied Commercial Underwriting.
This commitment to learning, along with her display of leadership and teamwork has led to her recent promotion to Underwriting and Reinsurance Manager. Driven by her own desire to succeed, she takes pride in empowering her team and providing the best possible solutions for customers. As a manager, her goals include developing her team and exceeding customer expectations. In addition to her primary job functions, Shayon has been recognized for her technical skills and her extraordinary commitment to employee learning and engagement.
Janet Collins.
Chief Financial Officer
Janet is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years of experience, 15 years at the executive level. Over the years, Janet has played a critical role in transforming business processes to ensure alignment with the ever-changing accounting standards and regulatory guidelines.
Working in financial groups, Janet has held senior positions in Merchant Banking, Securities and Fund Management in Operations and Finance. Her latest experience was with a multinational conglomerate, with a focus on the Insurance arm of the Group holding several senior finance positions, the last of which was the Financial Controller- (GK General Insurance (JA), Allied Insurance Brokers (JA), GKI EC, St. Lucia, Antigua & St. Vincent & (GKIB, Turks & Caicos Islands).
Janet brings to BCIC her strength in strategic planning and budgeting and her expertise in developing strategies to enhance controls, systems , policies and procedures wish has resulted in creased efficiency for the finance unit which she has led.
As a fellow of The Association of Chartered Certified Accounts UK(FCCA). She is also certified by The Association of Accounting Technicians UK (AAT). As a team lead, Janet has high expectations and promotes each person’s continuous growth and development. In her downtime, Janet enjoys watching movies and spending quality time with her sons.
