We offer two kinds of Commercial Vehicle Insurance, which cover either private or public use of your commercial vehicles.

A Private Commercial policy is for vehicles you use to carry your own goods and samples only.

A Public Commercial policy is for vehicles used to transport goods for other people in exchange for payment.

No. You must have a Public Commercial Vehicle policy if you want to carry other people’s goods in exchange for payment.

No.  A Commercial Vehicle policy does not cover the goods being transported in the vehicle. You’ll need a separate Goods in Transit policy is required to cover damage to the goods in the vehicle.

No. A Public Commercial vehicle policy does not permit carrying fare-paying passengers. Instead, you’ll need a Public Passenger Vehicle policy.

Your policy excess is the amount we deduct from your settlement when we make a payment under your policy for damage to the vehicle. 

The excess is usually calculated as a percentage of the value of your vehicle.
