When you’re ready to report your claim, be sure to have the following details available:

  • Policy Information
  • Date of the Incident
  • Location & details of the incident

You will receive a claim reference number within 24hrs. Save and keep this number until the claim has been settled.

Steps to Report a Motor Claim.

Step 1: You’ll need the following information while you’re still on the scene of the accident:

  • Name and contact details for other driver(s)
  • Date, time and Location
  • Damage report on vehicles (Photos to be included if possible)
  • Photos at the scene of the accident. 
  • Injury report of driver(s) and passenger (s)

Step 2: Report the accident:

  • Call BCIC Assist to help with moving the vehicle if needed.
  • Call and report the accident to the nearest police station.

Step 3: Tell us what happened:

  • Report the accident via online, email, telephone or visit the nearest BCIC branch, agent or broker office.
  • What’s your reason for reporting the accident? Eg. record purposes, claiming on your policy or against third party’s policy
  • Give us your repairers’ contact details and we will send an assessor to view the vehicle. (If claiming on your comprehensive policy)

Step 4: How you can assist:

  • Make yourself available to assist our adjuster, assessor or investigator
  • Send us any information, signed witness statements, footage, photos of damage caused to vehicle or evidence that can help with resolving the claim faster.

Step 1: Get the following information:

  • Date, time and location of incident
  • Copy of driver’s license (back & front)
  • Witness name and contact information (If any)
  • Photos of damage caused vehicle(If any)

Step 2: Call the police:

  • Call an ambulance if someone is injured.
  • Call and report the incident to the nearest police station.

Step 3: Tell us what happened:

  • Report the accident via online, email, telephone or visit the nearest BCIC branch, agent or broker office.
  • Tell us your reason for reporting the accident. Eg. record purposes, claiming on your policy or against third party’s policy
  • Give us your repairers’ contact details and we will send an assessor to view the vehicle. (If claiming on your policy)
  • If the vehicle has been stolen or destroyed due to fire, flooding or lightening, you will need to provide the following:
    Original Vehicle Documents
    Original Partially Transferred Title
    Keys for the Vehicle

Step 4: How you can assist:

  • Make yourself available to assist our adjuster, assessor or investigator
  • Send us any information, signed witness statements, footage, photos or evidence that can help with resolving the claim faster

Step 1: Get the following information:

  • Date, time and location of incident
  • Make a note of damage caused to the vehicle. Take photos if possible. NOTE: Damage should ONLY be to the glass. If the vehicle received additional damage, the claim will become an accidental damage

Step 2: Report the damage:

  • Report the damage via online, email, telephone or visit the nearest BCIC branch, agent or broker office.
  • Tell us if you are just reporting for record purposes or claiming on your policy.
  • Claiming on your policy-You can choose to have us repair the glass or repaired by your own repairer. NOTE: If you repair with us we will handle everything for you. If you repair on your own, we will refund you the amount spent based on your policy limit.
  • Only ONE windscreen claim can be made each year of your insurance.
  • A windscreen claim will not affect your No Fault Discount

Step 3: How can you assist:

  • Share any additional information including photos that can help confirm the details of the claim.
  • Make yourself and vehicle available for the repairer to fix or replace the windscreen in the quickest possible time.
