Automated Decision Making

We ask for your personal information when you are buying a policy to decide:

  • if we can offer you a policy to buy
  • on what terms (e.g. pricing etc.) we are able to offer you a policy to buy
  • whether we can provide you with a monthly payment option (EasyPay premium financing)

We use an automated underwriting engine as part of that process, which takes account of the information you have provided including gender, age, and your financial information (for motor policies, we also use relevant vehicular offences, convictions or past claims for you and any other drivers listed on the policy).

The automated engine may also validate information you provide against other records we hold about you in our systems and third party databases, including public databases. We may supplement the information you provide with information from third parties who can provide more information about you, your vehicle or property (including TAJ, claims bank, land registries and commercially available property databases). After we have sold the policy to you we may use the information to perform ongoing analytics to ensure we’re appropriately pricing our products.

When you do business with us you are consenting to the collection of your personal data.  Either you or someone authorized by you which includes your legal representative, power of attorney, agent, guardian etc. may consent to our collection of your data.
