Q: Why is it that only passengers are covered in an accident and not the
A: There is no legal liability to self when the driver is at fault.
Q: If there is an accident, why am I paid less than what the vehicle is insured for?
A: The excess is the only routine reduction customers are able to get back, or if a vehicle is insured for an amount but has lost value through depreciation and if it is completely damaged we will only pay its market value.
Q: Can a person insure a car without a driver’s licence?
A: Insurance coverage require a valid licence for the driver. However, the policy holder doesn’t have to be a driver.
Q: What is a no fault discount?
A: Discount on your premium that you earn for not having any claims for which you are responsible. We are the only company with this discount. It goes up to 60% of the annual premium.
Q: What is the difference between a no claim discount and a no fault discount?
A: Other companies do have a no claim discount but if you make a claim you lose the discount even if its not your fault. BCIC’s no fault discount is different.
Q: How long does it take to get to the maximum no fault discount?
A: Four years without any at fault claims. If there is a claim when you hit the maximum, the discount is lowered rather than you losing it in its entirety.
