Q: What is an excess?
A: Also called a deductible, it is a small amount that a policy holder has to pay when making a claim. It is usually 5% of the sum insured. If the car needs repairs you pay the excess and we’ll pay the balance. It prevents us from dealing with little claims with high administrative costs and it ensures that persons have a stake in taking care of their vehicles. It keeps them managing their risk.
Q: If I use my car to carpool my friends and charge them a fee, are they
covered under my policy?
A: Private carriers should not be used in this way. So we would most likely not cover this arrangement.
Q: Why can’t I use my vehicle to teach others to drive?
A: While there are some legal requirements, you can use your
private vehicle to teach someone to drive using your car as long as there is a licensed driver and no one else in the car.
Q: What if I don’t have all the money to pay for my policy?
A: We have an EasyPAY programme where you can make up to 9 monthly payments. We are the only company with no big upfront payments or deposits needed.
Q: What if I miss a payment?
A: There will be no coverage from that point.
Q: Can I get any insurance policy with EasyPAY?
A: It is available for all policies, even home insurance. You can sign up at any branch. You pay the instalment at the branch or you can pay online or at a Paymaster.
