You have trusted us with your insurance needs for over 50 years, and we take our obligation to safeguard your personal data seriously.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Summary<\/h2>\n\n<p>Data is important. It is what allows us to personalize our service to you. This summary gives you an overview of why we collect, how we collect and use your personal information, how we protect it, and who can view it. These third party service providers are required to safeguard our customer\u2019s information and may only use it in connection with performing those services.<\/li>\n<li>We secure and limit access to your information.<\/li>\n<li>We protect information about potential, current, and former policyholders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Information We Obtain from You<\/h2>\n\n<p>You will be required to provide us with your personal information to do business with us. \u00a0 Your personal information is anything that could be used to identify you, such as your full name, valid identification document, mailing and residential address, home and mobile phone numbers, email address, TRN\/driver\u2019s license number and date of birth.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Email Addresses &amp; Mobile Phone Numbers<\/h3>\n\n<p>Email and SMS communications are the primary ways in which BCIC shares important information about our customer\u2019s policies with them. These include renewal notices and reminders, communications about your payments and arrears, any claim that you may have and information about special opening hours at our branches or changes in our service delivery.<\/p>\n\n<p>We may from time to time send you promotional emails about BCIC\u2019s products and services.\u00a0 If you do not wish to be contacted via email for non-policy related communications, you may unsubscribe by following the instructions at the bottom of any BCIC email you receive.\u00a0 If you do this, please note that this will affect your ability to receive important information about your policy via email.<\/p>\n\n<p>To be clear, the below table shows exactly what data we may collect:<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How We May Disclose Your Information<\/h3>\n\n<p>Here are some examples of how we may disclose your information:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We must exchange information about you with our agents, investigators, appraisers, attorneys, and other persons who are, or will become involved in processing your application and servicing your policy or any claims you may make.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When you are involved in an accident policy information is provided to adjusters and the businesses that will repair your vehicle or any organization that we have determined needs the information to perform a business, professional, or insurance function for us.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We may also share your information with another insurance company if you are involved in an accident with their customer; with government departments or law enforcement authorities if required by law, or to protect our legal interests or in cases of suspected fraud or illegal activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Information about Your Transactions<\/h2>\n\n<p>We may collect information about your transactions and experiences with us such as your payment history, claims, coverage, and vehicle changes. If you commit to purchase a policy with BCIC, we will also confirm your previous motor vehicle record and claims history as permitted by law.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Information We Disclose<\/h3>\n\n<p>Information about our customers or former customers will only be disclosed as permitted or required by law. We restrict access to your information to employees who we have determined need it in order to serve you. We train our employees to safeguard customer information, and it is mandatory that they sign confidentiality agreements as part of their employment contracts. We also maintain strict electronic and procedural safeguards to protect your information from unauthorized access by third parties.<\/p>\n\n<p>We store your data locally in Jamaica, electronically in a secure industry standard third party application called 4D Underwriter DB, in the cloud and in-house on paper files.<\/p>\n\n<p>We have robust safeguards in place to protect your data. We restrict access to the Underwriter application as well as access to the physical Data Centre where our data is stored. We use sophisticated encrypted connections to our Web Applications that access your data and restrict access to the servers that store your data.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When You Visit Our Website<\/h2>\n\n<p>We collect anonymous data about website traffic to help us analyze how we can make our website better. We\u2019re using secure, third-party tools to analyze this data.\u00a0 We also use Cookies.\u00a0 Cookies are small bits of data that a website sends to a computer\u2019s hard drive when a website is viewed. We use cookies to collect data about your use of our website (such as how you got to it, your IP address and information about your device, time of visit, and what pages you visit on our website) so we can provide a better website experience. For example, when you are filling out a form on our website cookies allows you to continue filling out the form even if you had already started and exited the browser. These cookies are stored for 30 Days.<\/p>\n\n<p>When you visit our website we may also collect data and use this to position our ads as you browse Google or its partner websites or apps. This data may be taken from Browser Cookies, 1st Party Data, or 3rd Party Data sources.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Automated Decision Making<\/h2>\n\n<p>We ask for your personal information when you are buying a policy to decide:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>if we can offer you a policy to buy<\/li>\n<li>on what terms (e.g. pricing etc.) we are able to offer you a policy to buy<\/li>\n<li>whether we can provide you with a monthly payment option (EasyPay premium financing)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>We use an automated underwriting engine as part of that process, which takes account of the information you have provided including gender, age, and your financial information (for motor policies, we also use relevant vehicular offences, convictions or past claims for you and any other drivers listed on the policy).<\/p>\n\n<p>The automated engine may also validate information you provide against other records we hold about you in our systems and third party databases, including public databases. We may supplement the information you provide with information from third parties who can provide more information about you, your vehicle or property (including TAJ, claims bank, land registries and commercially available property databases). After we have sold the policy to you we may use the information to perform ongoing analytics to ensure we\u2019re appropriately pricing our products.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Your Rights<\/h2>\n\n<p>When you do business with us you are consenting to the collection of your personal data.\u00a0 Either you or someone authorized by you which includes your legal representative, power of attorney, agent, guardian etc. may consent to our collection of your data.
